This file provides detailed information on the Padauk font software.
This information should be distributed along with the Padauk fonts
and any derivative works.

## About this project

Padauk is a Unicode font designed to support all languages and writing systems that use the Myanmar (Burmese) script.
It covers all of the Unicode Myanmar script blocks and works on OpenType based systems.

### 08 October 2025 (SIL WSTech team) Version 6.000
- Removed Graphite and old OpenType (mymr and DFLT) shaping support
- Many shaping improvements (in the newer mym2 OpenType shaper)
- Add support for Mon Thai (mnw-TH)
- Separate packages for the Book weight fonts
- More weights (Medium, SemiBold, and ExtraBold)

### 27 November 2024 (SIL WSTech team) Version 5.100
- Added Pa'o and Eastern Pwo Karen digits
- Stack medials vertically (needed for Sanskrit)
- Add dotted form of U+1002 with VS1 for Khamti, Aiton, and Phake
- Added Tai Laing variant glyphs and language support (including adding cv10 and ss10)
- Added Aiton and Phake language support

- Added Character Variant feature (cv09) for U+AA6C variant selection in OpenType and Graphite
- Added Stylistic Set feature (ss09) for U+AA6C variant selection in OpenType
- Added support for tall U/UU (U+102F/U+1030) following a sequence of U+101A and U+103E

- Added Thai Mon variant glyphs and language support
- Added Aiton and Phake variant glyphs and language support
- Added Sgaw variant glyphs
- Added Character Variant features (cv01-07) for variant selection in
  OpenType and Graphite
- Added Stylistic Set features (ss01-06) for variant selection in OpenType
- Added glyphs to Variation Selector VS1 for Khamti and Aiton
- Added support for Mon sequence of U+102B (tall AA) followed by U+1032 (AI)
- Fixed various bugs
- Added kerning to some glyph pairs

### 6 September 2019 (SIL WSTech team) Version 4.0
- Modified OpenType code to reduce GPOS table size and speed up processing
- Added font packages Namkio (Khamti) and Deemawso (Kayah Li)
- Fixed a few bugs

### 31 May 2019 (SIL WSTech team) Padauk beta Version 3.950 (test release)
 - Add glyphs to support minority languages
 - Improved support for rendering minority languages, especially Khamti,
   Sgaw Karen, Tai Liang, and Asho Chin
 - Added glyphs for typesetting and web font support

### 10 March 2017 Version 3.003
- Run ttfautohint 1.6 which has support for Myanmar

### 22 November 2016. Version 3.002
- Run ttx optimisation during the build to reduce file size
- Change font file names to more conventional file naming practice

### 15 September 2016. Version 3.001
- Change lower ascii characters from being marks to spacing

- Add mym2 OpenType support
- Support minority languages in OpenType
