\n\t\t\t\tDownload the installer and run it\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t
\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. Download \n FLExTrans<\/a>\n and double-click it to run. Note: you should install (and run FLExTrans) with a user that is a Windows administrator. If you don’t have other users on your Windows system, you probably are already administrator.
    \nInstall FLExTrans in a folder that doesn’t need special permissions. For example, don’t<\/span> install into Program Files. Note: three ancillary tools (Python, XMLMind and Rule Assistant) will automatically get installed under system folders like Program Files.<\/span>
    \n<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Follow the steps in the install wizard to do the following:\n
      \n
    1. Install Python when given the option. Remember to check the Add to Path checkbox.<\/span> (If you already have Python 3.11 or 3.12 64bit installed, you can skip the Python install.)<\/li>\n
    2. Install XMLmind 8.2.0. (This is an XML editor used to edit FLExTrans transfer rules and more)
      \nImportant license information. Please read before installing XMLmind
      \n<\/strong>FLExTrans depends on the XMLmind XML Editor so you must obtain the XMLmind XML Editor in order to properly use FLExTrans. XMLmind offers a very generous Personal Edition License for the XMLmind XML Editor which, if you qualify, means that you can use it for free. If you do not qualify for the Personal Edition License, then you will need to purchase a Professional Edition from XMLmind. For those of you who are a member of SIL International and are going to use the XMLmind XML Editor program on your own computer, you do<\/strong>\u00a0qualify to use the Personal Edition. If you are not a member of SIL International, you may well qualify, but be sure to read the license carefully. You can find the license at\u00a0      http:\/\/www.xmlmind.com\/xmleditor\/license_xxe_perso.html<\/a>.
      \nIf you do not qualify,<\/strong>\u00a0please click\u00a0      here<\/a> to purchase the software.
      \nIf you qualify for the free Personal Edition of the XMLmind XML Editor<\/strong>, follow the normal install steps.
      \nIt is important that you use version 8.2.0 whether you use the free version which is included in this install or purchase it. No other version will work with FLExTrans.\u00a0<\/strong>XMLmind may prompt you at some point to upgrade, but please do not.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n\t\t\t\t\t

      \n\t\t\t\tTry a test translation!\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t
      \n\t\t\t<\/p>\n
        \n
      1. ‘Restore’ the sample FLEx projects.\n
          \n
        • Go to the …\\FLExTrans\\SampleFLExProjects\u00a0<\/em>folder.<\/li>\n
        • Double-click on the German and Swedish files one at a time. Once the first project opens, you can restore the next one.<\/li>\n
        • If there are other backup files in this folder, restore them too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Open the WorkProjects<\/em> subfolder (under FLExTrans<\/em>) and then the German-Swedish<\/em> subfolder.<\/li>\n
        • Start FLExTrans by double-clicking on FLExTrans<\/em>.vbs<\/em> (You may get a Security Warning box that comes up. Untick the box that says “Always ask before opening this file” and click Open.)<\/li>\n
        • If you installed FLExTrans for production use:\n
            \n
          • Click on the Translate Text module and click the Run<\/span> toolbar button<\/li>\n
          • The translation process will run<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • If you installed FLExTrans for development work:\n
              \n
            • Click the Run All<\/span> toolbar button while in the Drafting <\/b>collection to run all of the Drafting modules.<\/li>\n
            • The translation process will run<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • The German sentence ‘Ich liebe dich.<\/span>‘ (I love you.) will get translated to the Swedish ‘Jag \u00e4lskar dig.<\/span>‘<\/li>\n
            • Open the Swedish-FLExTrans-Sample<\/strong> FLEx project and refresh the list of texts. You should see Text1<\/span> appear with the above Swedish translation in it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Congratulations, your installation is complete.<\/b> You have successfully verified the FLExTrans system with the German-to-Swedish sample. You are now ready to begin your own translation project!<\/p>\n
