It does not provide an in-depth discussion of the program, or how you would use it in real-world situations. If you need further help, please refer to the online help and training materials, post your questions on the forums on LingtranSoft, or contact us directly.<\/p>\n<h2>Starting Phonology Assistant<\/h2>\n<p>To start Phonology Assistant, do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the desktop, double-click the Phonology Assistant icon:<\/li>\n<li>On the taskbar, click Start, click Programs or All Programs, click SIL Software, click Phonology Assistant, and then click Phonology Assistant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Creating a new project<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>On the File menu, click New Project.<br \/>\nThe New Project Settings dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>In the Project Name box, type the name of the project you would like to create.<\/li>\n<li>In the Language box, the name of the language (for example, \u201cNKonya\u201d).<\/li>\n<li>Add a Data source:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>In the dialog box, click Add, and then click either <strong>FieldWorks Data Source<\/strong> or <strong>Non FieldWorks Data Source<\/strong>. The Choose Data Source File(s) dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the data source you would like to use, and then click Open.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>If necessary, map the standard format markers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Saving a new project<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In the New Project Settings dialog box, click OK. The Save Phonology Assistant Project File dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the folder where you would like to save the project.<\/li>\n<li>Click Save. A Phonology Assistant dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>Click Yes. Phonology Assistant opens the new project.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Adding another data source<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>On the File menu, click Project Settings. The Project Settings dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>In the dialog box, click Add, and then click either <strong>FieldWorks Data Source<\/strong> or <strong>Non FieldWorks Data Source<\/strong>. The Choose Data Source File(s) dialog box appears.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the data source you would like to use, and then click Open.<\/li>\n<li>In the Project Settings dialog box, click OK.<\/li>\n<li>If necessary, map the standard format markers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Exiting Phonology Assistant<\/h2>\n<p>To exit Phonology Assistant, do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the File menu, click Exit.<\/li>\n<li>At the upper right of the Phonology Assistant window, click Close.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Note: the following sections are meant to help get you started with Phonology Assistant.
