You can download the latest or previous versions on the <a href=\"http:\/\/software.sil.org\/readingappbuilder\/download\/\">Download<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"v14.5\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Reading App Builder 14.5<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Release date:<\/strong> 10 September 2026<\/p>\n<h3>New Features and Improvements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <strong>Simple and Advanced views<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is now a \u201cSimple\u201d \/ \u201cAdvanced\u201d toggle at the top of the tree view in the app builder window.<\/li>\n<li>You can toggle between a \u201cSimple\u201d view, which hides less frequently used configuration pages and tabs, and an \u201cAdvanced\u201d view, which shows all options. This simplifies the user experience for basic app configuration while retaining full control for advanced users.<\/li>\n<li>When using \u201cFind\u2026\u201d, if a result points to a page or tab hidden in Simple mode, selecting this result will move the builder into the \u201cAdvanced\u201d view.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Apps Home Page<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When you launch the App Builder, the first page you will see if you have apps is now the \u201cApps\u201d page which displays all of the open apps. The app name, package name and icon are displayed for each app. Click on an app card to move to the summary page for this app.<\/li>\n<li>A color in the top right of each app card gives an indication of whether the app is ready to build or not: green for ready, red for not ready, or grey if a check is in progress.<\/li>\n<li>To return to the \u201cApps\u201d page, click the root node of the treeview on the left of the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Improved App Summary Page<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The latest build information is now displayed on the App summary page. This shows any APK, AAB or IPA file that has been compiled recently with its size and date. Click on the filename to open the corresponding folder.<\/li>\n<li>If the app has been published on Google Play, you will see a link \u201cView on Google Play\u201d next to the Version number at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<li>If the app has been published on the Apple App Store, you will see a link \u201cView on App Store for iPhone\u201d next to the Version number at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Improved Build Progress<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The \u201cBuild App\u201d dialog has been rewritten to show a list of steps to complete.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cWriting files\u201d and \u201cBuild app\u201d steps have been integrated into the same dialog.<\/li>\n<li>A moving progress bar and time elapsed label make it easier to see that the build is in progress.<\/li>\n<li>A link to the output file is shown, i.e. APK or AAB.<\/li>\n<li>An \u201cInstall APK\u201d button appears at the bottom of the dialog when the build is complete.<\/li>\n<li>The technical details are hidden by default.<\/li>\n<li>An error message is displayed if any required file is missing, such as fonts, images or timing files.<\/li>\n<li>More progress messages have been added, making it easier to see where a failure occurred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Improved Install APK dialog<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The \u201cInstall APK\u201d dialog now contains a Device chooser, which shows you which Android device is connected to your computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Improved App opening<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When apps are being opened using File &gt; Open App or File &gt; Open Multiple Apps, a progress message appears, rather than leaving the system hanging with no information as to what is happening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Bottom Navigation Buttons Visualization<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Bottom Navigation page in the builder now displays an image of how the bottom navigation button toolbar will be displayed. Functionality within the app remains the same.<\/li>\n<li>See Navigation &gt; Bottom Navigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Data Deletion improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If User Accounts are used, Google Play requires an Account Deletion URL in the Data Safety section. A separate Data Deletion URL is optional. Both of these can be specified and will be included in the Export to Data Safety CSV.<\/li>\n<li>If User Accounts are used and you are using Scriptoria, leave these fields blank and Scriptoria will fill them in with URLs for pages in Scriptoria. Data deletion requests will be added as tasks in Scriptoria. It shows messages your app (and the device) produce while running, which can help you diagnose crashes, errors, and unexpected behaviour during testing.<\/li>\n<li>You can now view the logcat from an Android device via the App Builder interface.<\/li>\n<li>See Tools &gt; View Logcat from Android Device.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that your phone is connected to your computer with a cable, and that USB Debugging is enabled in the phone&#8217;s Developer Options.<\/li>\n<li>You can choose a specific app to monitor, filter messages, pause and resume the logging, and copy to clipboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Interface enhancements in the App Builder<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added descriptions at the top of the card menu pages.<\/li>\n<li>Added On\/Off state for features where relevant on the card menu pages.<\/li>\n<li>If the app builder window height is not big enough to show all the fields, a vertical scrollbar is added (#2355).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bugs Fixed:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the Android app:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If an audio filename to download is changed in an updated version of an app, a cached audio file with the previously used filename should not be used.<\/li>\n<li>Displaying a news feed screen could be delayed when fetching an updated feed from the internet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the app builder:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contents menu item images for grids and carousels might be missing in the app builder viewer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"v14.3.1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Reading App Builder 14.3.1<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Release date:<\/strong> 15 July 2026<\/p>\n<h3>New Features and Improvements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <strong>Features for iOS app<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Additional buttons on the final page of a Quiz: \u201cTry Again\u201d, \u201cNext Quiz\u201d, \u201cReturn to Contents Menu\u201d (as added to Android in 14.3).<\/li>\n<li>New color themes: Rose, Sage and Charcoal (as added to Android in 14.3).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Default Color Theme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can specify the default color theme, i.e. \u201cNormal\u201d, \u201cRose\u201d or \u201cSage\u201d rather than always defaulting to \u201cNormal\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>See Appearance &gt; Colors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Updated Fonts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Busra 9.300 (9 July 2026).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Updated Bloom Player<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updated Bloom Player to version 2.20.1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bugs Fixed:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the Android app:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are on a book with audio and the app is showing the audio toolbar, if you then use the book and chapter selector to choose a book without audio, the audio toolbar will continue to show \u2013 and vice versa.<\/li>\n<li>If the \u201cNormal\u201d color theme was not available, no color themes would be shown on the Text Appearance popup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the iOS app:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The bottom action bar buttons did not all fit since iOS 26. Reimplemented action bar display.<\/li>\n<li>The Container app did not start correctly the first time it was loaded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"v14.3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Reading App Builder 14.3<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Release date:<\/strong> 07 July 2026<\/p>\n<h3>New Features and Improvements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <strong>App Builder Menu pages<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When you click on the parent nodes such as \u201cApp\u201d, \u201cAppearance\u201d, \u201cEngagement\u201d, \u201cMedia\u201d, you will now see a menu page with an image, title and description for each sub-page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Audio-only book page-specific images and references<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can define a specific image for each audio file (page or audio section) instead of showing the same image for all pages in a book.<\/li>\n<li>See Book &gt; Audio Files, select an audio file, right click and \u201cSelect Image\u2026\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a set of images for the pages of a book, add them using the \u201cAdd Images\u2026\u201d button.<\/li>\n<li>You can choose to show or hide the current book and page reference under the image.<\/li>\n<li>See \u201cShow reference under image\u201d on the Book &gt; Features tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>New Color Themes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In addition to the existing Normal, Sepia and Dark color themes, three new color themes have been added: \u201cRose\u201d (a pink theme), \u201cSage\u201d (light green) and \u201cCharcoal\u201d (dark gray).<\/li>\n<li>See Appearance &gt; Colors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Audio Sleep Timer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When playing audio, app users can set a timer to pause the audio after a certain number of minutes.<\/li>\n<li>To set the timer, press the menu button on the right of the audio toolbar, select \u201cTimer\u201d and choose the number of minutes.<\/li>\n<li>For Audio Only books, the timer icon will appear on the bottom row of the audio toolbar, next to the Playback Speed icon.<\/li>\n<li>To turn off a timer that is running, press the menu button, select \u201cTimer\u201d and choose \u201cOff\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>See Media &gt; Audio &gt; Audio Toolbar, to enable or disable the timer in the app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Audio File Conversion<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you select an audio file in the Audio Files table, right-click and select \u201cConvert Audio\u201d, the Convert Audio wizard that appears now contains Progress and Results pages, and the option of replacing the existing audio files. If you replace the existing audio, the original files are placed in a backup folder.<\/li>\n<li>If you try to add audio files of the wrong format to a book, e.g. WAV files or variable rate MP3 files, you will be asked if you want to convert them. If you reply yes, the Convert Audio wizard will appear to take you through the process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Audio File Properties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Audio Preview in the app builder, there is now a \u201cProperties\u201d button on the right of the toolbar. This will display a list of audio file properties, such as encoding, bitrate, file size and other metadata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Quiz improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can display a results grid at the top of the page, indicating right and wrong answers, and giving the user an idea of their progress through the quiz, their current score and how many questions are remaining. See the \u201cQuiz Display\u201d tab for a quiz book.<\/li>\n<li>You can set a time limit for answering each question. A timer is displayed at the top right of the page, indicating how many seconds remain. As the time begins to run out the timer color changes to amber and then to red. If the time runs out, the wrong answer sound will be played and the correct answer will be highlighted. See the \u201cQuiz Questions\u201d tab for a quiz book.<\/li>\n<li>You can display an introduction page at the start of the quiz. This could be used, for example, to let users know how many seconds they have to answer each question. See the \u201cQuiz Display\u201d tab for a quiz book.<\/li>\n<li>Added \u201cReturn to Contents\u201d, \u201cTry Again\u201d and \u201cNext Quiz\u201d buttons on the final score page of the quiz.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Contents menu items by language<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can choose to show a contents menu item for certain interface languages and not for others. For example, you might want to show a link to a Help book in English if the UI is in English, and a link to a Help book in French if the UI is in French.<\/li>\n<li>A \u201cLanguages\u201d tab has been added to the Edit Contents Item dialog. Choose all languages or a selection of languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Adding books to Contents Menu<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is now easier to add a link to a book in the Contents menu.<\/li>\n<li>In the table of books, right-click and select \u201cAdd to Contents Menu\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Book Viewer improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On the Viewer tab for a book in the app builder, you can choose to view the display in phone or desktop width.<\/li>\n<li>There is now a page\/chapter selector (see the down arrow button) which mirrors the page\/chapter selector in the app, giving you a grid of chapter numbers to choose from.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>EPUB improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Create EPUB wizard has been added to the Publishing &gt; EPUB page. Use it to select a book collection and one or more books to add to an EPUB file.<\/li>\n<li>You can add a chapter index page at the start of each book. This makes it easier for users to select books and chapters. It involves less scrolling than adding chapter numbers to the Table of Contents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Import\/Export for Registration Screen User details<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have a lot of items to add to a drop down menu in the User details configuration for a Registration or Add User screen, there are now Import and Export options.<\/li>\n<li>Supported formats are CSV (comma delimited) and Microsoft Excel (xlsx).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Import\/Export for Translations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can export translations as a Microsoft Excel (xlsx) file, update the translations in the spreadsheet, and then import them from the spreadsheet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Fonts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updated Annapurna to version 3.000 (4 June 2026).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Updated Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cBuilding Apps\u201d documentation updated in English and French.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bugs Fixed:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the Android app:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the audio toolbar and bottom navigation bar are showing at the same time, too much inset spacing was shown at the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\n<li>Do not show the bottom navigation bar when viewing a book in full screen mode.<\/li>\n<li>References could appear in Contents items (#2304).<\/li>\n<li>When playing correct or incorrect answer sounds for a quiz, audio buttons should not appear in the device notification area.<\/li>\n<li>When in a quiz, the bottom navigation buttons bar should not appear, and users should not be able to swipe left or right to other books.<\/li>\n<li>If a quiz was locked with an unlock code, the Delete and Unlock icons were missing on the keypad screen, and the bottom of the keypad could be hidden by the bottom system bar.<\/li>\n<li>If you changed the color theme via the navigation drawer menu while in the About or Sharing screens, the colors on the screen were not being updated.<\/li>\n<li>For some types of Chordpro file, the chords would not be displayed correctly in the app.<\/li>\n<li>When scrolling to the bottom of a short page, the bottom navigation buttons bar could be shown and hidden quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the iOS app:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Long names in the book selector split into two lines. If the book name doesn\u2019t fit now, it creates an ellipsis in the middle of the name and stays at one line.<\/li>\n<li>Occasionally, the hamburger button and title would shift right.<\/li>\n<li>Make scroll indicator visible when dark theme is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Implement app tour option on navigation bar, displaying onboarding screens.<\/li>\n<li>The navigation drawer language was not changing immediately.<\/li>\n<li>An extraneous navigation bar appeared at the top when the Contents was selected from the navigation drawer.<\/li>\n<li>iOS Container App: Don\u2019t reset app specific settings until a new app package has been selected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the app builder:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you chose Audio-Only type books in the New App wizard and then you went back to change the book type, some of the Audio-Only related pages would continue to appear (#2259).<\/li>\n<li>If there is just one app in the builder, when launching the builder the tree nodes should only be partially expanded rather than completely expanding the whole tree.<\/li>\n<li>When grouping Contents menu items as a grid or carousel, or ungrouping them, the Contents configuration file was not updated correctly (#2286).<\/li>\n<li>Display keyboard settings in Navigation &gt; Navigation Drawer &gt; Settings only if a Keyman keyboard is included in the app.<\/li>\n<li>Removed unused default color in Book Selector and Chapter Selector styles.<\/li>\n<li>Make the logged in user label long on the Publishing &gt; App Store &gt; Scriptoria page.<\/li>\n<li>When grabbing hold of resizing handles on the Picture story book Motion configuration, there needed to be more tolerance to allow the mouse cursor to change when close to the rectangle\u2019s border rather than only when on it.<\/li>\n<li>When exporting to EPUB, section headings could appear in the table of contents with visible formatting markers.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cBook Colors\u201d tab on the Colors page is empty, unused and should be removed (#2296).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"v14.2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Reading App Builder 14.2<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Release date:<\/strong> 29 May 2026<\/p>\n<h3>New Features and Improvements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n    <strong>Android App Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Google is introducing a process whereby Android app developers must be verified and app package names must be registered. In some regions, users may be prevented from installing unverified apps, even when apps are distributed outside Google Play. See here for more details: <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/developer-verification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android Developer Verification<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Please see the \u201cApp Registration\u201d tab on the App &gt; Android page.<\/li>\n<li>The information on this page takes you through the steps in the registration process and provides the links and details you need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Reorganization of App tabs<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The tabs on the \u201cApp\u201d page have been reorganized into \u201cName &amp; Package\u201d, \u201cAndroid\u201d, \u201ciOS\u201d, \u201cSecurity\u201d pages.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cAbout\u201d page has been moved under the \u201cApp\u201d tree node.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top:16px\">\n    <strong>Improved Audio-Only Book screen layout<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When showing an audio-only book, the screen layout has a cleaner look in the Android app.<\/li>\n<li>The seekbar is placed at the top, followed by the play button row.
