{"id":1119,"date":"2020-08-04T20:44:59","date_gmt":"2020-08-04T20:44:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/software.sil.org\/xlingpaper\/?page_id=1119"},"modified":"2020-12-08T16:37:13","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T16:37:13","slug":"differences-between-xlingpaper-with-tex-live-2010-and-tex-live-2020","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/software.sil.org\/xlingpaper\/differences-between-xlingpaper-with-tex-live-2010-and-tex-live-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Differences between XLingPaper with TeX Live 2010 and TeX Live 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This page documents the known differences between producing the default PDF (via XeLaTeX) between the original version (based on TeX Live 2010) and the new version based on TeX Live 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Mac users will or should get the TeX Live 2020 version.<\/strong>\u00a0 If you are upgrading from an earlier version of XLingPaper on your Mac, see <a href=\"https:\/\/software.sil.org\/xlingpaper\/xelatex-package-from-tex-live-2020\/\">this page for an additional step you need to do<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the known differences:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The XeLaTeXSpecial attribute value of <em>scaled<\/em> (used for img elements) no longer works.\u00a0 We try to fit the graphic as best we can, but if you need to manually fix its size, use the XeLaTeXSpecial attribute value of <em>width<\/em>.\u00a0 See Appendix D in the user documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Allow font-related elements to have a XeLaTeXSpecial attribute value of <em>Script=&#8217;Arabic&#8217;<\/em> as well as <em>script=&#8217;arab&#8217;<\/em>. (TeX Live 2020 does not recognize <em>script=&#8217;arab&#8217;<\/em>; actually, it causes the PDF to fail to be produced.)\u00a0 So you will need to change all instances using <em>script<\/em> to use <em>Script<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>We suggest you no longer use the <em>location<\/em> attribute on <em>figure<\/em> elements.\u00a0 The figure may appear at an unintended location in the document.\u00a0 For example, setting <em>location<\/em> to <em>topOfPage<\/em> may place the figure at the end of the document.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This page documents the known differences between producing the default PDF (via XeLaTeX) between the original version (based on TeX Live 2010) and the new version based on TeX Live 2020.
