Annapurna SIL is a TrueType font with OpenType font capabilities added using
state-of-the-art font technologies. This means that complex typographic
issues such as the placement of combining marks or the formation of ligatures
are handled by the font, provided you are running an application that provides
an adequate level of support for these font technologies.

Accessing features for variant glyphs

There are some Devanagari character shape differences in different parts of South Asia. These can be accessed by using the OpenType Stylistic Sets and, in some cases, the Character Variant features. The Annapurna SIL features document shows the OpenType features supporting the variant glyphs.
