From the early days, Glyssen has been limited to using a Text Release Bundle as the source for the text. By preventing direct access to a Paratext project, Glyssen encouraged users to avoid trying to start a dramatized recording project based on unpublished texts. However, this also posed some barriers to a lot of legitimate uses of Glyssen in situations where text release bundles were not readily available.
SIL recently made the decision to allow Glyssen to access Paratext project data directly. Of course, we still encourage users to make sure a translation has been consultant checked and approved for publication before using Glyssen to prepare the audio script for recording. We will announce it when this feature is ready, but we thought we should users would want to know it’s coming.
