Review and organize audio-visual footage into cohesive tutorial units. Add sounds and graphics to create instructional screencasts reaching thousands of global workers with training.

We are seeking full-time and volunteer professional Video Editors to create screencast training videos. Use your creative skills to help linguists and Bible translators discover how technological advances can help them accomplish quality work in less time.

A Video Editor is responsible for reviewing audio and visual footage and using computer software to organize clips into a cohesive unit. Their duties include splitting or combining video clips, adding appropriate sounds or graphics, and watching the finished product to catch mistakes before submitting it for review. At SIL, you will create tutorial videos to reach thousands of field workers with the technology training that they desperately need. SIL Global has developed dozens of software programs that facilitate and improve linguistic fieldwork and Bible translation. We host video tutorials for users globally via our websites.

  • Assembling and creating videos and video tutorials
  • Following a script, screenplay, or outline
  • Inputting sound to enhance footage, which may include selecting music and writing voice-overs
  • Improving and correcting lighting, coloring, and faulty footage
  • Meeting with Language Technology staff and field personnel to understand their message and user community
  • Participating as an integral and enthusiastic part of the team, exhibiting ownership, follow-through, initiative, awareness, and effective communication with peers and management
  • Working with the team around a cohesive product roadmap
  • Participate in regular project status, planning, partnership, and strategic meetings
  • Be available to travel to meet with the larger development team at least once per year
  • Be available to travel biennially to the Language Technology Conference
  • Participate in professional conferences and meetings

Education

Video Editors need a background in media, art, communication, photography, videography and/or technology. A Video Editor must have experience in working with film and video and training in video production and editing software. A bachelor's degree in communications, media, visual art, film, television, multimedia, graphic design or equivalent work experience preferred.

Training & Orientation

Will complete the initial IT Software Department training program and relevant portions of IT Orientation.
