How to Install
On Windows, the normal process is to download the program. A bootstrap program will be launched. This program will decide if you need the Translation Edition or the Standard Edition and will download the appropriate one and install it. It will also check if you have various third party software tools that Pathway will target. On the advanced dialogue, the user has the option to not install a particular package if so desired otherwise if these third party packages are missing they will be installed as well. For a complete description of what is installed, see offline installation
On a Linux platform, the pathway and pathway-xelatex packages are present on the experimental repository. These packages are for the Translation Edition which includes everything needed for the Standard Edition too. Please follow the instructions at this link for adding the SIL main and experimental repositories. Once the repository links are present, the normal software installer on Ubuntu or Wasta should install pathway or pathway-xelatex. (pathway-xelatex has a separate package because of its size and because not all users may want to user this export destination.) After Pathway has been installed the first time on a user’s profile, the user will need to restart. This will add a variable in the user’s profile to allow the Fieldworks Language Explorer (FLEx) to find Pathway.
Configuring Pathway
Once Pathway is installed, the user can set up a custom configuration using the Configuration Tool. This tool allows the user to Save any provided style sheet as a custom style sheet and then modify the parameters of the custom sheet.
The user can set up defaults for the Export Through Pathway dialogue using the Set Default tool bar icon.
Using Pathway
From FieldWorks, Pathway is on the File, Export dialogue under Dictionary. In Paratext, Pathway will appear as an item on File menu near the bottom as Export through Pathway.
