PrimerPrep or Primer Pro
For many years, Primer Pro was the definitive tool for advanced primer design, pioneering much of the functionality language teams have relied on to design effective primers. We’re grateful for the innovation Primer Pro brought to the field, and for the dedication of its developer.
With the retirement of its developer, Primer Pro will now formally move into maintenance only status: it will keep running, but won’t see further development. PrimerPrep has been growing steadily for some time to include much of the advanced functionality that once set Primer Pro apart — all within an interface designed to be simple and intuitive. That progress is why PrimerPrep is now our recommended tool for primer design.
PrimerPrep is under active development, with the goal of providing all of the primer design functionality that users require — and we’d love your help getting there. Please send your feedback via the Get Help tab (or the in-program Help > Give Feedback… menu), whether it’s a Primer Pro feature you rely on that’s not in PrimerPrep, or a fresh idea that would help your workflow. We want to make sure PrimerPrep has everything you need to design primers.
