FieldWorks 9.2.5 Beta
Release Date: Jan. 24, 202
We are glad to announce that the FieldWorks Beta version 9.2.5 is being released. It is available for download on the 9.2.5 download page.
- We are happy to announce the first Beta version of FieldWorks 9.2. Today we are releasing FW 9.2.5 (Beta 1).
- The work on FW 9.2 (compared to 9.1) has focused on adding the ability to export dictionaries directly to Word.
- The Alpha versions that have been released so far provided the chance for “early adopters” to experiment with that functionality while it was still “under construction”. As of the version we are releasing today, we believe it is good enough to do “real work” with it. There are definitely still bugs, and some features are still being improved. But it is far enough along that we want general feedback on the functionality that is there.
- Very little has been done to change other parts of FLEx, apart from a number of bug fixes. The exception is that there are some new features in the area of the automatic parsers, compared to the last stable version (FW 9.1.25).
The release notes list the issues that have been addressed for this version compared to the previous Alpha version (9.2.4). The notes also list some of the remaining known bugs. - If you want to try out the new Word export functionality, and you will keep in mind that there are still bugs to be fixed, and you are willing to give us feedback about what you find, then we encourage you to download and install this version. (There was no “model change”, so opening your data in this version will not prevent it from being opened in earlier versions. As usual, it is still recommended to do a backup or a Send/Receive before upgrading.)
- You can see the details at https://software.sil.org/fieldworks/fw-925. For more specifics about version 9.2, see the release notes at http://software.sil.org/fieldworks/beta-release-notes2/. As you can see. The notes for this version are incomplete, but I will get them updated as soon as I can.
