It has been quite a while since PrimerPrep was updated… The major change in this version, you probably won’t even notice. The underlying user interface has been updated to more modern standards (CSS styles in GTK3), but the goal was to make that transition invisible to the end user.

There are a number of other improvements, however, which you might notice:

  • Feature: You are now asked to confirm quitting the program if there are unsaved changes.
  • Feature: A splash screen is displayed on startup, so you know the program started, even if it takes a while.
  • Bug fix: Digraphs and multigraphs can appear in any order and they will be processed properly.
  • Bug fix: Better handling of digraphs in the marking of untaught residue.
  • Bug fix: Words with ignored affixes weren’t showing up in the Teaching Order example words.
  • Bug fix: Better handling of texts with tab characters so they don’t confuse concordance displays.

This release will be a helpful base from which further development can be carried out. Specifically, we intend to add the most critically useful features from Primer Pro into PrimerPrep (with a view to eventually retire Primer Pro).
