What does the Scripture App Publishing Service do?

The App Publishing Service will do the work of building your app and publishing it to the Google Play store.

Each time the Scripture App Builder software is improved, the service will automatically build a new version of your app. When you give us the go ahead, we will update the app on Google Play.

Who can use the service?

The first version of the App Publishing Service is available to those who are eligible to publish Scripture apps to the Wycliffe Bible Translators Google Play developer account. You will need a username and password for Insite, the IT system used by Wycliffe Bible Translators and partners.

In future versions, we plan to partner with other organizations who wish to use the Scripture App Publishing Service to publish to their Google developer accounts.

What kind of apps can we publish?

You can publish Scripture apps which contain translated books of the Bible. The service is not available for publishing picture story books, song books, or other content at this time.

I would like my app to be published on the ‘XYZ’ developer page on Google Play. Will the publishing service allow me to do this?

At this time the Scripture App Publishing Service will only publish to the Google Play Store on behalf of Wycliffe Bible Translators.

In the future we plan to partner with other organizations to use the Scripture App Publishing Service to publish to their developer accounts.

What happens after I submit my data to the service?

When your Scripture App Builder data is submitted to the service we perform the following steps:

  1. Data is stored in a repository so we can automatically rebuild your app when the Scripture App Builder software changes.

  2. We build your app and sign it.

  3. You are provided access to your app to test and accept for publishing.

  4. We create a Google Play Store entry using the data you provide.

  5. You are provided a link to approve your store entry.

  6. We publish your app to the store upon your approval.

The time for this process to be completed will take no more than two business days, and as little as 30 minutes, depending on working hours.

Can I remove an app from the publishing service?
