Release 1.000
We are pleased to announce the release of the Harmattan font for West Africa. It is available for download here:
The original font on which Harmattan was based was an SIL Open Font License (OFL)-licensed typeface called Fouta AS, designed for one specific region in West Africa. However, significant design changes have been made as the font has been extended to handle a wider variety of languages. Harmattan, named after the trade winds that blow during the winter in West Africa, is designed in a Warsh style to suit the needs of languages using the Arabic script in West Africa. The Latin letters are subset of the Andika font.
Harmattan has been well accepted in Senegal and other areas. We hope that you will find it useful. This is an official release of the font. You may still send us bug reports and we will attempt them when we can. For now, we will likely be moving on to completing a couple of other projects that have been waiting.
