The Adaptation solution is a hybrid of oral drafting and a traditional text based adaptation solution. One team member works from an existing translation in a closely related language. The translation is read and then rather than typing word for word or phrase for phrase equivalents, the translator records their translation. This is transcribed by Audio Project Manager. The source translation is loaded into a tool like Adapt-It and then with the transcription open, word replacement equivalents or phrase replacements are entered into the Adapt-It translation memory. This creates a work flow that can speed up the generation of first drafts with greater naturalness than traditional adaptation approaches.
